Welcome! This is Jim Du Molin, editor of The Wealthy Dentist Newsletter.
In this, the final video segment of the 9 Truths series we are going to be looking at the top five Internet Dental Marketing Mistakes a doctor can make. Some of these you will laugh at and say How could anyone be so stupid? Others you might say, Wow, I never thought of that before. Before we start, lets make something very clear – yes people make mistakes, not just in marketing, but in life in general. There are no stupid doctors – despite what some dental consultants will say – just uninformed doctors.
I couldn’t cut a crown prep if my life depended on it. You have been trained in dentistry, not marketing. Don’t beat yourself up about not knowing or fully understanding the topics we have reviewed in this video series. There are at least four great Internet dental marketing companies that can help you work through this unfamiliar territory.
The important thing, and the purpose of this series, is to get you on the fast track for generating more new patient appointment requests NOW. This is the easiest and fastest strategy we know to face and deal with the current economic turmoil much of the dental community is experiencing.

Hi, this is Jim Du Molin again. I want to welcome you to the final video in our 9 Truths series. I was discussing this series with another group of dental consultants and someone mentioned that this video should be named Stupid Doctor Tricks just about everyone laughed, as we had all encountered doctors who had made some truly serious marketing mistakes.
But the more I thought about the comment, the more it disturbed me. There are no Stupid Doctors. If a doctor makes a mistake, its because he or she does not have the knowledge or the training to do it right. I pointed out to the group that none of us could cut a crown prep if our lives depended on it.
In over 20 years of dental management consulting and having worked with 900 plus dentists one-on-one, I can certify that doctors are not stupid. Almost every one of them had a genuine desire to learn but, as we all know, marketing technology and dental technology are both progressing at near light speed. Its nearly impossible to keep up with either one, let alone both.
This series of videos are my way of trying to keep the dental community aware of what is going on in the area of Internet marketing. Some of my comments on Internet dental marketing might sound self serving. As some of you know, I founded the Internet Dental Alliance and launched the very first dental website company back in 1998 that’s like 50 year ago in Internet time. We now manage over 2200 dental marketing campaigns for doctors across North America and generate up to 25,000 requests for a dentist every month.
I am a passionate advocate of Internet marketing for dentists. And, in all honesty, I have to admit that there are some other very good Internet dental marketing companies out there. Each has their own approach and economic model. I have two points I want to make. First, if you are not marketing on the Internet Just Do It! Second, if you are already marketing on the Internet EXPAND YOUR EFFORTS to increase your returns. With that in mind, lets move into the 5 biggest mistakes we encounter in Internet Dental Marketing.
In wrapping up this series, I have to say that it has been more fun than I ever imaged and I have to thank my videographer Matt Huber for the tremendous amount of research, time and effort he put into putting together the program and making it available for easy viewing on the Internet. The feedback we have gotten so far has been outrageously great and I want to thank the many doctors who have encouraged us with this project. I would also like to ask you a personal favor. Several doctors have proposed that we launch an Internet dental continuing education program focused at both online and offline marketing strategies.
The Online side of the program would cover website design, how to convert web visitors to appointment requests, Internet video for dental marketing on YouTube, pay-per-click marketing, and even how to use the social marketing aspects of websites like FaceBook, Digg, StumbledUpon and other social group sites for new patient marketing.
The Offline part of the program would cover everything from how to maximize traditional strategies like Yellow Pages advertising, direct mail with postcards, brochures and new resident mailings, office signage, TV, radio and about a dozen more new marketing strategies that are being launched in the next year including an unbelievable patient retention program to keep your new and current patients in your practice and accepting your dental treatment plans.
Im trying to decide if there are enough doctors out there who are interested in this type of online video training? So, if you are interested, I would appreciate it if you would take a minute to add your name to our survey that you will find on this page just below the video. If you don’t find a link, just go to XXX. I will then do my best to keep you updated on the project.
Thanks,
Jim Du Molin
